Dota Underlords review

Dota Underlords is an online strategy game in which players battle each other by placing Dota 2 heroes on the game board in turn-based mode. Heroes can be recruited, combined, and upgraded, and the one who assembles the stronger team wins.

Dota Underlords is a chess-playing MMO. Each player has to place characters on the game board, after which the units fight automatically. It is noteworthy that all the characters are copied from Dota 2, not only in appearance but also in combat characteristics. The game itself is more like a mobile application, although available for PC, where instead of swipes you need to use the mouse and keyboard shortcuts. Most importantly, keep in mind that the basis of victory is not the speed of the pieces on the board, but the in-depth knowledge of the rules.

In front of you is an 8×8 board with a built-in unit store. You need to recruit heroes and arrange them into cells. There are several types of arrangement: in two lines, in a corner, in a "T" and others. Also, each player thinks up his tactics and distribution of troops based on the abilities of the individual units of the team. For example, warriors are usually on the first line, hunters - on the second, and some wizards even in the distant corner from where they are more convenient to launch AoE attacks, but there are also mage tanks, which feel better in the front position.

The game will please you with a huge number of possible combinations of heroes in the team. Items and artifacts do not fall out of opponents, and after each round, you will be offered up to three ready (unassembled) items. For special merits, you have a chance to snatch legendary items. Each character has one box where you can put something.

Some of the more expensive characters are much more powerful than the base ones. Often you will be faced with situations where you have to wait with the improvement of one character branch until the gold and experience points, although for the same amount you can upgrade a couple of other, weaker heroes. In addition to abilities, items, amulets, armor, and weapons are to be pumped. Each hero has several ranks, which are determined by the indicator of the stars, to get a three-star character, you need to combine three two-star and so on.

There are a total of 8 of them. Each rank consists of 5 subranks. Ranks are reset at the end of the game season. The rank is affected by game activity, the number of wins, and the level of defeated opponents. Apart from the ordinary bastards, make sure you have at least one piece in your team that you have invested a lot of money into because this type of hero can kill more than half of the enemy forces.

Heroes in Dota Underlords are divided into 17 classes. Alliances are another secret that can help you win. The point is that if you have two, three, or more characters from the same class, you get a bonus to attack, defense, your faction's buffs, or you put debuffs on enemy heroes (except for the demon, having two demons disables 50% of the attack bonus).
